Treatment Specialties

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). ERP is a behavioral therapy that exposes people to situations (exposures) designed to provoke a person’s obsessions in a safe and controlled environment. A part of ERP treatment includes building coping skills for when a triggering situation occurs, allowing the client to use these skills to prevent their compulsions from taking over. While ERP does not completely remove distressing situations and thoughts, ERP equips clients with the necessary skills needed to cope during everyday situations by gradually reducing the distress associated with obsession and minimizing behavioral compulsions.

Couples
Gottman Method Couples Therapy. The Gottman Method is a researched-based couples therapy that aims to help couples build stronger relationships through increased intimacy, respect, and affection by removing barriers to healthy communication, creating a sense of empathy and understanding, and building felt safety, love, bonding, friendship, and trust. The Gottman Method focuses on changing negative interaction patterns and learning how to manage perpetual conflicts, rather than eliminating or avoiding them, by creating an atmosphere that encourages each person to talk honestly about their hopes, values, convictions, and aspirations.

Trauma and PTSD
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is a type of psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distressed caused by traumatic experiences. In a typical EMDR session, clients are asked to recall a traumatic memory while simultaneously moving their eyes back and fourth, known as Bilateral Stimulation (BLS). BLS is intended to help the client reprocess the memory with a new, adaptive positive belief. Benefits to EMDR may include feeling less anxious and depressed, resolution of traumatic memories, and increased emotional regulation and self-esteem.
